David Benavidez vs. Caleb Plant: Referee and Judges Revealed

David Benavidez and Caleb Plant are going to face each other for a chance to get a shot at challenging Saul Alvarez. The fight is going to take place in Las Vegas. After testing positive for cocaine David Benavidez lost his previous title as punishment. Though Benavidez managed to win the title back only to lose it once again after failing to meet the weight requirements. He will be risking his perfect record of 26 undefeated wins in this fight against Caleb Plant who lost his title just a couple of years prior. Plant has only lost a match throughout his character and that was against Canelo Alvarez in 2021.

Winning this fight is important for both fighters as they both have been looking for a shot against Canelo. Benavidez has been calling out Canelo for a fight, though Canelo doesn’t plan on fighting him for now. Plant will be looking forward to the fight against Alvarez as well, to get a shot at revenge for his previous loss.

With just a day left for the fight, the judges and referees of the fight are revealed. Boxing fans all over the world will be looking forwards to the two battling it out in the ring. There is a lot of bad blood between the two fighters, and it only heightened after their most recent press conference.

Experienced officials selected for Benavidez-Plant interim WBC super middleweight title fight

Kenny Bayless, a veteran referee, has been chosen as the third man in the ring for the David Benavidez-Caleb Plant interim WBC super middleweight title fight. It will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday. The Nevada State Athletic Commission’s executive director, Jeff Mullen, proposed Bayless and the five-member panel unanimously approved the appointment. Bayless, who is 72 years old and has overseen some of the most significant bouts of the 21st century. He will earn $3,150 for the assignment.

Meanwhile, if the match goes to the scorecards, the final verdict will be determined by judges Tim Cheatham, Dave Moretti, and Steve Weisfeld, each of whom will be paid $2,450. The three officials have previously worked together on several significant fights. This includes Dmitry Bivol’s unanimous decision win over Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez to defend his WBA light heavyweight title. Weisfeld has scored three of Plant’s fights, while Cheatham has been involved in two of Benavidez’s bouts.

Caleb Plant on the newly transformed physique of David Benavidez

Caleb Plant, ahead of his fight against David Benavidez, has expressed his indifference towards Benavidez’s newly transformed physique. Plant is pleased that Benavidez is finally taking his training seriously enough to get in the best shape possible for the fight. In the past, Benavidez often looked as if he was carrying excess weight. Plant believes that his weight loss is good preparation for the match-up. If Benavidez loses, he won’t have an excuse for not being in the best shape.

Plant is willing to risk it all in the fight against Benavidez and has worked extremely hard in this camp. Plant stated that they had a great camp and that he had improved since his previous fights.
