Amid heavy speculations of stepping back inside the ring since 2020, the six-weight class champion and renowned promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, again opened up on his comeback. The last he fought was in the year 2008 against another legendary southpaw, Manny Pacquiao. However, after losing to the Filipino great, ‘The Golden Boy’ took official retirement from the sport in 2009.

In the recent interview with media personnel, De La Hoya said, “There might be possibility who knows. Right now I don’t feel it I’m not too crazy about it because you with covid hitting me and being in the hospital for several days.”

Further, he recalled an incident back from days of his release from the hospital. He said, “I actually went running the other day and my chest was still kind of couldn’t really breathe too well I ran like two miles and I was like crazy tired so I don’t know we’ll see maybe tomorrow will be a different story.”

However, it seems that Hall of Famer has not fully recovered as yet after suffering from the Coronavirus.

In September 2021, the ‘Golden Boy’ was all set to return inside the ring after 13 years. However, prior to the much-hyped event against the former UFC champion, Vitor Belfort in Los Angeles, he was hospitalized, according to The New York Times.

Later, he himself took to Twitter and informed his fans. The 48-year-old wrote, “Wanted you to hear directly from me that despite being fully vaccinated, I have contracted Covid and am not going to be able to fight next weekend. Preparing for this comeback has been everything to me over the last months, & I want to thank everyone for their tremendous support.”
