On 20th April, two of the most recognized young talents in boxing will go against each other. The fight between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney is already generating a lot of hype. But, not too long ago, another electrifying bout had fans on the edge of their seats. The undefeated warriors, ‘The Dream’ and ‘The Tank’ Gervonta Davis, were poised for a spectacular collision—a match that would have transcended boxing and become a historic event.

Sadly, the potential fight was called off, supposedly, due to Davis’ refusal to accept any demands from Haney’s team. But it seems at one moment the fight would have almost happened. To uncover the truth about its proximity, we turn to Bill Haney‘s insights on MMAFightingonSBN. Let’s delve into what he had to reveal.

Bill Haney, Devin’s father, talked about the negotiations surrounding Devin’s fight with Tank. He said, “Well, we got it close enough that his excellency Turki Alalshikh came on board to dispel any narrative that money would be a problem coz the brothers over there were willing to make it happen and to kill any narratives,” explaining how Saudi Arabia’s royal advisor, Turki Alalshikh, himself was onboard to make the fight happen and put up the necessary amount of money.

Haney Sr. reiterated the fact that it got very close. “I think you heard that Tank suggested that he be given or sent some couple Ferraris. You know, I didn’t want to get in the way because I didn’t want him to offend his excellency,” stated Bill, recalling the incident where Tank demanded that he be given 2 Ferraris to accept a fight with Devin.

“Turki Alalshikh himself said that he would only be sending gloves to the Tank Davis team. I think negotiations fell after that,” said Haney, recalling the entire fiasco. Since even the Saudis refused to accept Tank’s over-the-top demands, the fight, sadly, could not be made.

While we might not get the Tank vs. Haney fight anytime soon, Garcia is still prepared to go ahead with his fight against Haney. He did lose to Tank, but will he be able to conquer Haney? Let us find out what Puerto Rican boxer Abraham Nova thinks.
