Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenko: Judges Scorecard Round-By-Round, Final Results

Devin Haney defended his titles against Vasyl Lomachenko this Saturday at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. The bout delivered what it promised fans. Both fighters gave it their all as they gave their blood, sweat, and tears to prove their mettle. Lomachenko, unfortunately, could not achieve his desires and lost the bout.

Haney managed to retain his undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF & WBO lightweight world titles after what appeared to be a tough fight for both fighters. Prior to the fight, Haney had promised that he will tire ‘The Matrix’ out. He even doubled down after being highly criticized for violently pushing Lomachenko during the weigh-in.

“Lomachenko is a future Hall of Famer. It was a blessing. He was my toughest opponent by far. He is very crafty, and we put on a great fight for the fans.” These were the words Haney said after his victory via a unanimous decision. Throughout the fight, Haney relied on his bodywork and jab to counter Lomachenko’s precise punches.

The clash was a close contest between the two boxers. Ultimately, the judges awarded the win to Haney. They scored in favor of Haney with the scores–116-112, 115-113, and 115-113. Lomachenko received an overwhelming amount of support from the crowd. Moreover, some disagreed with the decision.

Lomachenko did have trouble navigating past Haney’s lengthy jab. However, he did not let the age difference be a hindrance to him. In fact, he used it to his advantage. The fight definitely caused some changes in Haney as he plans to go ‘back to the lab’ to figure out what’s next. Surprisingly, it was Lomachenko who was disappointed in Haney. Haney said, “Before, I thought he would be better. He’s a tough fighter. He’s a good fighter. But he’s not a pound-for-pound fighter”. Though he did refuse to comment on the result, claiming everyone saw “what happened today”
