WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol can face the toughest challenge of his career against the pound-for-pound phenomenon, Canelo Alvarez, on May 7, putting his 175 lbs strap up for the grabs. Despite being an undefeated titlist, Bivol may slide into the fight as an underdog.

Canelo Alvarez relished the WBO light heavyweight gold in 2019 by knocking out Sergey Kovalev. It was his maiden trip to the 175 lbs category and Alvarez claimed the win in highlight-reel fashion. The victory left many of Canelo Alvarez’s critics speechless. However, Bivol seemingly picked up loopholes in that performance, which he envisions to operate in his favor on the fight night.
