Eddie Hearn Reveals Why Dillian Whyte vs Deontay Wilder Is the Most Favourable Matchup

Matchroom Director Eddie Hearn has chalked up an intriguing matchup for Dillian Whyte, and it’s against none other than the former WBC champion Deontay Wilder. Two elite knockout artists of the division, Whyte, and Wilder have touted a possible matchup between them for a long time.
However, it couldn’t have had a better time than now. Whyte reclaimed his lost WBC Interim crown by avenging his loss to Alexander Povetkin via KO. Meanwhile, Deontay Wilder is still waiting for a shot at his lost WBC belt. So, they can lock horns for obvious reasons.
Speaking on the AK&Barak Show, Eddie Hearn shed light on the matchup and handed a map to the heavyweights in the race for the WBC strap.

“Dillian Whyte can be matched with anyone, but Wilder-Whyte is a thrilling barnburner. We need to see Deontay Wilder back in the ring. I want to see that, and I think he is great for the sport,” said Hearn (h/t: ESPN Ringside).
While both Dillian Whyte and Deontay Wilder appear rightful contenders for the WBC championship, they can battle out one another to determine the undisputed number one contender.

Moreover, Deontay Wilder needs to return quickly, or he might lose his chance at the title.
In that case, Wilder might be awarded the shot, but there can be many more twists in the tale as the result of the heavyweight bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury can change the pecking order instantaneously.

Despite all the talks, WBC champion Tyson Fury is all set to feature in an ultimate British heavyweight showdown against the unified champion Anthony Joshua. The fight is reportedly official without a date and venue. So, Dillian Whyte will have to wait till the undisputed heavyweight title fights are part of the history books.
This will give ‘The Bronze Bomber’ some more time to return. A few months back, he was rumored to face Charles Martin in a non-title matchup, but there’s still no development to the fight. That said, Wilder and Whyte can and should fight each other to stay active and jump to the front of the queue of the mandataries.
