What it’s really about is ‘Money’ Mayweather’s relationship with his father, Floyd Mayweather Sr. The father-son boxing duo have failed to look eye-to-eye on many occasions throughout their lives. Whether it’s arguments that saw the legendary boxing son banishing his father from his property or bitter public remarks that intensified their feud, Mayweather Jr. & Sr. have always ended up on opposing corners. While appearing in an interview with India’s ZOOM TV on March 19, Mayweather openly expressed his regret over the conflicts with his father.

It forced a young Mayweather Jr. to train with his uncle, Roger Mayweather. He did go back to training with Mayweather Sr. after he was released from prison. But ‘Money’ went back to Roger before the Victor Ortiz fight. It was a decision that drew a rift between the father and son. So, when the host of the interview asked Mayweather about his regrets in life, he said, “I regret beefing with my dad. When me and my dad bump heads, we [couldn’t] see eye to eye at that particular time.”
However, Mayweather still held his father in high regard. He told the host, “My dad is such a great man, such a beautiful person.” He then added, “When I was younger, I think I made the best decision because if I didn’t make the decision that I made, I probably wouldn’t be where I’m at. So, it was a good decision.”

Nevertheless, despite reaching unparalleled levels of success because of his decision back then, he would never choose “Money over genuine love for my children, my mother, and my father. Because once [the person’s] gone, you can’t get that person back.” While the father and son duo have managed to leave their differences in the past, their past looked quite different from today!
‘Money’ Mayweather beefs with Mayweather Sr.

The year was 2011, ‘Money’ was a few days away from his fight against Victor Ortiz when Mayweather Jr. and his father had to be separated by people. The back and forth began with something minuscule but soon turned into an all-out brawl in Mayweather’s gym, captured on camera by then-boxing broadcaster HBO.
In the middle of the argument, Mayweather Sr. claimed he was the one who helped hone Jr.’s skills. In response, Jr stated, “You can’t train nobody when you’re locked up. This [Roger] is my trainer right here! Jealousy don’t get you nowhere.” Offended by the remark, his father said, “What jealousy? Who is jealous,” claiming he is the best.
