Floyd Mayweather has angered some Canelo Alvarez fans with his comments. Following his historic win over Caleb Plant, Canelo is in the spotlight, as one of the most talked-about boxers. One of his former opponents, Floyd Mayweather, spoke about Alvarez evolving as a fighter.

However, many fans were not happy with Mayweather‘s words. Per Michael Benson, Mayweather said: “Same fighter, same fighter. It’s crazy, ‘Canelo in his prime, he’d have been a different fighter.’ When I fought him he was in his prime! I was the best in my 20s. When I fought Canelo I was almost 40.”

Twitter users didn’t hold back, as they gave ‘Money’ Mayweather a piece of their mind. One Twitter user said, “The only guy actually believing that Canelo was in his prime back then is Floyd himself, he gets all the credit for pretty much giving Canelo a lesson that night because he was still back then a really dangerous fighter, but come on, he’s on his prime right now.”

The main argument that Canelo fans presented was that it was Canelo’s biggest fight ever, and he was too young. Floyd, on the other hand, was a weathered vet and a multi-division champion with multiple championship bouts. Canelo has not lost since and has evolved greatly as a boxer.

Floyd Mayweather accuses Canelo Alvarez of ducking David Benavidez

Mayweather accused his former rival Canelo Alvarez of ducking David Benavidez by moving up to cruiserweight. Canelo is currently preparing to take on the WBC Cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu to become a five-division world champion. However, Floyd feels that Canelo took that fight because he is ducking David Benavidez.

“Canelo a hell of a fighter,” Mayweather told reporters yesterday. “But my personal opinion is that he’s ducking Benavidez. You know, it’s just my personal opinion, and I’m allowed to speak my mind, that’s just what it is.”

David Benavidez has called out Canelo on multiple occasions before. However, as Alvarez will fight for the cruiserweight belt, ‘El Bandera Roja’ will have to wait. What do you think of Mayweather’s comments?
