Gervonta Davis is rightly regarded as the most promising prodigy of recent times. Davis is a super-aggressive fighter who hammers his opponents by going on the front foot. That said, all of his fights are extremely intriguing.

‘Tank’ Davis predominantly fights in the lightweight and super-lightweight category. He holds the WBA regular belt in both these weight classes. ‘Tank’ has already proved his mettle in the lightweight roster, but in the super-lightweight frame, fans want him to face the undisputed champ, Josh Taylor.

However, ‘The Tartan Tornado’ is apprehensive about facing Davis because of some reasons. Recently, Taylor, in a conversation with Behind The Gloves, spoke about facing ‘Tank’ and more.

He said, “Gervonta Davis is far too small for me and I would absolutely beat him up to a pulp. I really would. He’s fought no-one and I don’t think he intends on fighting anybody any time soon either.” (h/t Michael Benson)

Davis bagged the WBA ‘regular’ super-lightweight belt by beating Mario Barrios earlier this year. Since then, there have been mammoth comparisons drawn between him and Taylor. However, both the fighters have their next outings lined up against different opponents.

This has worked in his favor quite well. However, Taylor enjoys facing such fighters, as he knows how to counterattack well. Considering this, the Davis vs Taylor matchup seems exciting. It will be interesting to see if this fight really materializes.
