A simple interview, to start with, offers very rudimentary publicity. But the terms for one-on-one talk may not be agreeable to either side on account of several bones of contention. Money, for one, finds a place in that list—as brand ambassadors of the sport, a few charge a price for their appearances. Brian Davis, aka True Geordie, shared his experience when he requested Floyd Mayweather, a boxer par excellence, and Ric Flair, one of the greatest entertainment wrestlers of all time, for an interview. And so it seems he was fated for a familiar experience he received at the hands of upcoming UFC star Paddy Pimblett.

Thirty-five-year-old Brian Davis is the host of the popular podcast True Geordie. Taking the name pinned on the people from his hometown, Newcastle Upon Tyne, the show brings sportspersons and celebrities from all walks of life to discuss their careers and specific matters that make headlines.

True Geordie narrated the incident involving former Cage Warriors Featherweight champion Paddy Pimblett. Before he joined the UFC, Paddy had attended a True Geordie show. However, once he got on the UFC rolls, the former’s manager whipped an appearance fee.

Geordie offered his point of view, We shouldn’t have to pay for interviews, just don’t do the interviews, if you don’t want to do the interviews. You know what I mean.”

As their conversation waded through the recent feud between MMA journalist Ariel Helwani and Paddy Pimblett, True Geordie told Wade, “Want to know which two people asked me to pay for them other than Paddy?”

Surprised, Wade wondered whether the Fury family had anything to do with faux pas.

Smiling, Geordie responded, “No actually, I said no, they never appeared. And they both asked for the same amount of money, I believe. One was Floyd Money Mayweather..you gotta love it…one was Ric Flair.”

Shell-shocked, Wade was still in wonder when True Geordie asked him to guess the amount the latter was required to shell out for The Money and Flair’s appearance.

The American responded with a princely amount of $50,000, and Geordie’s revelation came on ten grands.
