Floyd Mayweather Once Gave a Mafia Boss’ Son an Unlikely Gift

Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III will lock horns on the 11th of June. In a recent interview that witnessed a face-off between Mayweather and Gotti III, the former revealed his relationship with the Gotti family. Mayweather appreciated the Gotti family and showered admiration for the father of John Gotti III. Additionally, ‘TBE’ claimed he is friends with John Gotti II.

After Mayweather’s statements, John Gotti III recently revealed the gift ‘TBE’ once sent to Gotti II. It is worth mentioning there is a gap of 17 years between Gotti III and Mayweather. And at the time Mayweather sent the gift to Gotti II. Gotti III was not even in his teens. Likewise, Gotti III felt fascinated by the fact he would fight Mayweather, a man his father has been friends with for years.

In 2003, when Mayweather was already a professional boxer squaring off against Phillip Ndou with the WBC world lightweight title on the line, John Gotti III was barely 10 years old. However, as Mayweather disclosed in an interview, he has always been friends with the Gotti family. Branding the father of John Gotti III as “a gentleman,” Mayweather declared, “I’m friends with his dad. This is what people don’t know. I’ve always been friends with the Gotti family.” Additionally, Mayweather addressed John Gotti II and said, “It’s always great seeing you and talking to you.”

While Mayweather spoke about his friendship with the Gotti family and his admiration for John Gotti II, John Gotti III revealed the gift Mayweather once sent to his father in 2003. Gotti III took to Instagram and in one of his stories shared the picture of an autographed poster by ‘Pretty Boy’ Floyd to Gotti II. “Pretty Boy Floyd to my father when he was away circa 2003 next week we fight life is crazy,” Gotti III proudly wrote.

While Gotti III appreciated Mayweather, ‘Money’ praised his upcoming opponent’s work ethic as well. According to ‘TBE’, John Gotti III is “busting his a** working extremely hard.” In the same vein, Mayweather praised his fight with Gotti III. As per Mayweather’s statement, they have been working on this bout for a couple of years. “I’m very happy we’re able to get this fight done,” likewise stated Mayweather ahead of the upcoming fight with Gotti III.
