WBA (Regular) lightweight champion Gervonta Davis and lightweight superstar Ryan Garcia, are set to fight it out in one of the lightweight division’s biggest fights yet. There is no denying that the fight is set to be a major crowd-puller in the world of combat sports. However, conversations about crowd-pullers are incomplete without the mention of Floyd Mayweather Jr. Meanwhile, boxing legend Mike Tyson recently snubbed Mayweather while talking about Garcia’s upcoming fight.

Tyson was hosting the most recent episode of his Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson podcast, with co-host Sebastian Joseph-Day. Moreover, Garcia was also present as a guest for the episode.

In conversation, ‘Iron’ Mike opened up about the scale of Davis vs Garcia. He said, “I think this is the first super fight, of this year probably. You know other great fighters have fought, but they weren’t super fights. It wasn’t like hey, Canelo’s probably the only guy that’s done it so far. Could do it so far.”

He further shed light on the Mayweather situation, by saying, “Floyd’s not here no more. So it’s Canelo. And, he’s getting ready to go out. He’s the only guy you can say, ‘Who is Canelo fighting?’ Anywhere in the world and they know.” Day also nodded in agreement by mentioning that both Davis and Garcia are in their prime.

Ryan Garcia comments on the Mayweather vs Pacquiao ticket sales
Mayweather’s fight against Manny Pacquiao was undoubtedly one of the biggest fights in boxing. Taking this into context, Garcia opened up about the scale of his upcoming fight.

Talking about the ticket sales, he said, “The fans. They showed it by buying it, right? Like Mayweather – Pacquiao, they rewarded that blueprint. So if fans reward this blueprint where two young fighters put all on the line. And they’re both superstars and they’re making money regardless without each other.”

Additionally, he also mentioned that fans and the boxing fraternity were milking Mayweather vs Pacquiao. And also added that he wanted to change it with his upcoming fight.
