Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is one of the biggest pay-per-view stars in the US. However, the recent tweets of the WBA lightweight champion have stirred the boxing world.

Notably, the champion is all set to throw fists against former WBA interim lightweight champion Rolando Romero on May 28 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on a Showtime pay-per-view event. However, ahead of this much-awaited clash, the southpaw gun dropped back-to-back bombs, directing towards his long-time contract with Mayweather Promotions.

In the process, he made a big announcement on 25th March. According to the Baltimore boxer, his contract with Mayweather Promotions is expiring with the upcoming rumble on 28th May. However, the ending of the contract is not the big deal because it does not mean that 26-0 boxer will leave his promoters.

But, in a now deleted series of Tweets and the tone of conveying information has raised several questions. He wrote on Twitter, “My contract up that’s why they want me to fight this clown so bad.”

The 27-year-old fighter and his promoter had been under heavy criticism for playing safe. As being such a star boxer, ‘Tank‘ had always faced those pugilists who were not up to his level.

In the second tweet, he wrote, “I’ll be fighting [Deontay] wilder after they see this.”

Notably, this must-have lingered in the mind of the undefeated Floyd Mayweather’s protégé that his promoters were not making any effort to find a suitable opponent. As it does not seem that ‘Tank’ Davis is electrified with his fight against another fighter of Mayweather promotions.

However, after some time, ‘Tank’ deleted those series of tweets.

What’s next for Gervonta Davis?

The young, undefeated stalwart came under the wings of Floyd Mayweather in 2015 and signed a contract to escalate the organization from fore-front after the official retirement of ‘The Best Ever’.
