Why can’t they just get along? The feud between Ryan Garcia and Golden Boy Promotions keeps getting worse! In a recent turn of events, boxing legend Bernard Hopkins, who is a part of Oscar De La Hoya’s promotion company, made a comment about ‘King Ry’ that ticked off the Victorville native. Unsurprisingly, Ryan had something to say about it, which he did during a recent podcast with Brain Custer by mentioning his $6 million earnings.

Previously, the two parties had clashed heads after the high-profile bout between Garcia and Gervonta Davis. It escalated to a point where the parties are now engaged in a lawsuit regarding Garcia’s contract with Golden Boy Promotions. However, things got worse when Custer brought up Hopkins’ earlier comment. Hopkins had said, I will see how Ryan looks and then make my personal decision on whether he should fight again.” Here’s what Garcia retorted with!

Ryan questioned Hopkins’ statement while speaking to Brain Custer during The Last Stand Podcast. “What does he mean, ‘I’ll make the decision?’ He ain’t gonna make sh!t. He can’t make sh!t about me,” retorted Garcia. Disagreeing with Hopkins’ statement, Ryan lamented that he would be putting on a great performance for a team that didn’t even believe in him. “The crazy thing is I’mma box my a** off…for a team that don’t even believe in me,” said Garcia.

Later in the interview, Garcia went on to claim that despite not believing in him, the promotion company would be the first to collect the money from the fight. “Damn, they’ll collect that money that I’m making them,”  remarked Garcia. The Victorville native dragged in the payout for Golden Boy Promotions from his fight against ‘Tank’ Davis.

“They collect that $6 million, though, but you don’t know if I should box again? But you made that money off that [Davis] fight, though,” said the young pugilist. While things are going steady at the moment between Garcia and his promoters, here’s what he said about his upcoming fight.

Garcia claims the fight would prepare him for the top at 140

Despite recent friction with his promoter, Garcia seems upbeat about his upcoming opponent Oscar Duarte. While appearing in a recent faceoff on Golden Boy Promotion’s YouTube channel, Golden Boy Boxing, Garcia revealed what the fight will get him. ‘King Ry’ predicted that the fight would prepare him for the top fights in the 140-pound division.

“I think he’s a tough fighter. It’s going to prepare me for the top at 140,” said Garcia. He went on to claim that the fight would be tough. But he added that’s the whole point because facing tough opponents would improve his skills. “That’s why I’m here, and picking him,” ‘King Ry’ asserted.

Disagreeing with a disrespectful comment, Garcia lashed out at Hopkins while highlighting the $6 million earnings for the promotion company from the ‘Tank’ fight that he earned for them. However, the bigger question is – do you agree with what Garcia said? Do you think Hopkins’ comment was disrespectful?

One take at a time
