Terence Crawford’s victory over Errol Spence Jr. will go down in history as one of the most iconic fights. It was a rare moment when two Pound-for-pound fighters clashed to determine the best fighter among them on July 29th. As Both ‘Bud‘ Crawford and Errol entered the ring against each other, the world witnessed the unwavering dedication the two have for the sport. Bud’s ninth-round knockout of Errol Spence Jr displayed his technical prowess in the combat sport. Crawford also spoke about how the timing of this fight was just perfect.

Hunter‘ historically unified all the titles in the Welterweight division. The Nebraska native further made it clear that he is the undisputed boxer of this generation. The pride he has brought to himself, his fans, his family, and the State he comes from is undeniable. Terence was applauded for bestowing glory upon his birthplace and was honored in a special manner.

Omaha’s pride, Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford

The Welterweight champion hails from the city of Omaha, Nebraska. His devotion and affiliation to the state have been spoken about for a long time now. He carries the pride of belonging to the city on his sleeve everywhere he goes. And, of course, his victory holds a special place in the hearts of his city folks! Acknowledging the same and welcoming the four belts to the state, Governor Jim Pillen honored the boxer at a public event.

The governor acknowledged the fact that Bud has managed to do what has never been done before. He won four titles in two weight divisions and holds a prestigious record of 40-0. Pillen further applauded him for taking Omaha’s name to these championships and winning big. He said, “He is not only a great man because it is towards accomplishment, all his wins, 40-0, undefeated, four belts, in two weight classes. No man has ever done that before in history. It is a storm! He’s not just a great man because he’s a great athlete, have no doubts about the best athlete in the world. He also gives back to Omaha…”

A befitting reward for creating history- land at $1

As the governor was all praises for Bud, the mayor, Jean Stothert went a step ahead. At the victory parade, Jean reportedly gave Crawford land for a mere amount of one dollar! This was her way of showing her admiration and support for the boxer’s charitable nature. This asset would become the icing on the cake for him as he aligns this amount to the massive cheque he scored from the fight. To be clear, he did get about $21 million for his fight against Terence.

Jean in praise of the boxer said, “Let’s celebrate Terence together for his outstanding achievements as a world champion and coach and mentor to the youth at B & B Sports Academy.” The event is being funded by sponsors and business partners. She further added, “The City is proud to create this event that honors [Terence Crawford]“.

We look forward to the next step Bud will take in his boxing career. However, we also await more details about a possible rematch with Errol. The latter has perpetually expressed his interest in invoking the rematch clause in their contract. The terms of this clause are that the one who loses the bout can invoke it. But the weight class in which it’ll be held will be determined by the winner.
