Alvarez was physically smaller when it came to Dmitry. However, was moving up the weight class the root of all problems Alvarez faced in that fight? Oscar De La Hoya has something to say about this. According to De La Hoya‘s statements, ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez vs. Dmitry Bivol would be a different fight. Since Ramirez is not only “stronger” but also “hungrier” than Canelo Alvarez is inside the ring, ‘Golden Boy’ thinks the former wouldn’t suffer the same fate as Canelo did.

De La Hoya said, “I think that Zurdo Ramirez is a bigger fighter, a stronger fighter, he’s a southpaw, he’s hungrier. You got to take into consideration that Canelo was already on top.”

“Canelo’s mindset was already a winner, Canelo’s mindset was already enjoying the fruits of his labor, he was already a super star. Guess what? Ramirez is on his way up, Ramirez is hungry,” he added saying.

Although ‘Zurdo’ is 44-0, he is yet to go up against enormous names in professional boxing. “Ramirez is a fighter who wants to taste the glory. That’s going to be the difference right there,” De La Hoya concluded by saying.
