Shakur Stevenson reveals his interest in becoming the next Floyd Mayweather
In a recent interview with FightHype, ‘Sugar’ Shakur Stevenson expressed his confidence to replicate Mayweather’s financial success. The two-weight world champion acknowledged that boxing is his true passion, and claimed that he remains unfazed by the challenges that lie ahead. Moreover, with a clear vision of his path, he boldly stated that in a few years, he could be raking in purses of $200 to $300 million per fight.
“Honestly, this is my passion. I enjoy boxing and I’m not frustrated with anything that’s going on. I know my path and I know where I’m going. In a few years, I could make 200, 300 million dollars in a fight. People say it will never happen, they say Floyd did that and no one else will do that again. But nobody believed Floyd would be doing that. I’m focused, I’m excited and I can’t wait to keep putting on these shows and showing the world who I am.” he said
Stevenson’s rise in the boxing world has been nothing short of impressive. Already a two-weight champion at such a young age, he has claimed titles at the featherweight and super featherweight divisions with remarkable speed. In addition, he also made a statement in his recent Lightweight debut by delivering a dominant performance against Shuichiro Yoshino, leading to a sixth-round stoppage. Moreover, current WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford feels that Stevenson is already among the best boxers in the world and could beat anyone he chooses to face.

The WBO champion emphatically declared his belief in the unrivaled skill of Stevenson. ‘Bud’, who is a close friend, and mentor to Stevenson, expressed his conviction that the lightweight prodigy would emerge victorious against any opponent in the division. Moreover, he even went as far as touting the 25-year-old as a ‘one of a kind’ talent.
