“I Think He Started Packing a Gun Because of Me”: UFC Veteran Chael Sonnen Takes Multiple Digs at Deontay Wilder

It seems that Francis Ngannou may finally be able to achieve his long-time desire to face off in the boxing ring. What’s more, is that he might be facing Deontay Wilder who is supposed to have another huge match-up waiting for him in December. The fight can take place both in the boxing ring as well as the Octagon. This is the deal Ngannou initially offered to Tyson Fury, however, he was only left hanging as the fight didn’t go anywhere. Moreover, recently Eddie Hearn stated that the fight may even be an exhibition fight, with no knockdowns, leaving the fans flabbergasted.

The rivalry between Deontay Wilder and Chael Sonnen has been going on for a while now. Sonnen has always been known for his sharp tongue. He has previously even called Wilder a “Coward”, which caused the boxer to call him “a miserable person.” Recently, the American boxer appeared in an interview with ‘The Schmo’. There he gave his thoughts regarding the potential bout against Ngannou. However, Sonnen took multiple digs at him in his new video.

Chael Sonnen slams Deontay Wilder relentlessly

Recently, the UFC veteran, posted a video on his YouTube account, addressing Wilder’s recent statement. In the video, Sonnen first joked that he needs to be careful. Sonnen claimed that ‘The Bronze Bomber’ has started to keep a gun, because of him. “I think he started packing a gun because of me,” Sonnen said.

He referred to the time when Wilder was arrested after he was charged with possession of drugs and concealed weapons. He also revealed how the rivalry between the duo started. According to Sonnen, he had called out the former Heavyweight Champion, which earned him Wilder’s animosity.

He stood by his earlier statement on Wilder,  calling him a “coward.” He stated that the 37-year-old boxer can get credit for making money by boxing Ngannou. However, it does not belong in the “Brave category”.

Sonnen goes in on Wilder’s remark about Ngannou

Sonnen then pointed out that the last time he saw the boxer was on the PFL. He complimented him and said, “He was awesome”, he also said that Wilder “looked great”. He admitted that “He and Francis both get credit. They’re built the way I’ve spent my whole life trying to look”. In the midst, he takes the chance to once again take a jab at Wilder on his gun violation. He joked, “By the way, snub nose 38 is that what he thinks of me? He must be planning to use 4–5 rounds. Snub nose 38, you didn’t get yourself a 45?”

Furthermore, he moved on from the topic and addressed Wilder’s interview with Schmo where Wilder stated, “Francis knows the deal”. The American Promoter called it a bit “interesting” and stated “I feel like that’s a very big word for Deontay.” He stated, “Deontay doesn’t know what a deal is! Deontay doesn’t know what it takes to have a deal”.

He added that Wilder doesn’t know about an “arrangement or an agreement or a negotiation.” Sonnen further mocked Wilder, “Deontay, let me assure you, he does [but] you don’t know what a deal is.” He stated that he is not picking on Wilder, however, also added, “You could barely spell the word deal.”
