When the final story is written, Deontay Wilder will go down as one of the scariest punchers in the history of boxing. Although he seemed not unbeatable in his last two clashes against Tyson Fury, Wilder ended up with an unprecedented run in the heavyweight division, knocking out everyone on his way to success. He had held the WBC belt for years, defending it multiple times against A-listed opponents.

However, Deontay Wilder’s entry into the sport didn’t reflect him to reach where he is today. He started boxing just to improve his financial condition at the age of 21, which is considered a bit late for the sport.

Wilder could still become a world champion and one of the best of his generation. That said, he connected with Byron Scott alongside his wife Telli Swift and recollected how he got too much into his training, which ultimately left him in a bizarre state.

Deontay Wilder said, “When I first got into, I was like damn, I had to train this much and I got to the point where I was training so much that I was like. It couldn’t switch off in my head. I would be fighting in my sleep at times.”

Telli Swift agreed to it and said, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ still do it in his sleep. Well, we could have possibly seen the last of him inside the squared circle. Following back-to-back losses against Fury, Deontay Wilder has hinted at hanging up his gloves.

The current situation doesn’t validate Deontay Wilder to demand an immediate title shot. But he can set himself up for another championship run and won’t have to struggle in finding his ways. He seems one or two win away from entering the championship scenario. Besides, the heavyweight division can offer him some valuable matchups.

Wilder’s position in the division will clearly intensify the scenario and provide fan-favorite fights. But all of it depends on whether ‘The Bronze Bomber’ is actually interested.
