Rolando Romero remains confident that his powerful punches will do the talking on March 30. At T-Mobile Arena, he will face Isaac Cruz to defend his WBA light welterweight title. The duo’s bout headlines the co-main event of the Tim TszyuKeith Thurman main card event. It is the first PBC pay-per-view show to come up on Amazon Prime after their December 2023 tie-up.

At the opposite end, Isaac Cruz doesn’t seem too perturbed by the challenge he faces during his light welterweight debut. As the second-only boxer who took Gervonta Davis (now Abdul Wahid) the whole distance, ‘Pitbull’ confidently anticipates a reversal of fortunes against ‘Rollie’.

A few days ago, Rolando Romero and Isaac Cruz came face-to-face during a virtual press conference, facilitated by Ray Flores. The host for Premier Boxing and TGB promotions first checked with ‘Rollie’. Many boxers chase the opponent to draw them out during the fight. The American boxer, on the other hand, has a much easier task in hand. Widely acknowledged for his aggressiveness, Cruz, by default, will approach Romero, throwing a lot of punches. So Flores wanted to know whether Romero appreciated this particular facet of the upcoming bout.

Rollie, do you like the fact that you’re not gonna it’s not going to be too difficult to find this guy. You know he’s very aggressive; he’s a come-forward fighter likes to throw a lot of punches. You have fought every style in the sport, but I feel like you enjoy guys that come forward to you because you do like to mix it up and go toe-to-toe,” Ray Flores asked.

Rolando Romero responded with enthusiasm, stating that he was open to welcoming anyone brave enough to challenge him. But in the end, they will have to face the consequences. Likewise, Isaac Cruz can try whatever he wants. But the fact remains that on March 30, he would be facing the hardest hitter in the 140-pound weight class.

He said, “I mean, sure, you want to come at me and get cracked, and I mean, that’s good. I mean, like, I say he could do all that…but I’m a big boy, and I’m the hardest hitter he’s ever been in the ring with or he’s ever going to be in the ring with because I’m the hardest hitter at my weight class, so I feel like that.

The Premier Boxing and TGB host immediately checked for ‘Pitbull’s response. The WBO Latino lightweight champion dismissed concerns about Romero’s punching power.

Beneath the Surface

He expressed indifference towards whether the light welterweight champion is considered the hardest hitter or not. Cruz said that he would fight the way he usually does. Perhaps it could also be a case where Rolando Romero might not have come across a more aggressive fighter than him.

No, I don’t care one bit. I just do my own thing, and you know what? He has never fought against someone as aggressive as I am either,” said Pitbull.

Going by the favorites, most oddsmakers seem titled toward ‘Pitbull’ Cruz to dethrone Rolando Romero on March 30. The American boxer’s last fight drew much criticism for the way it was closed. Hence, he would, in turn, prefer seizing the first opportunity to force an early stoppage on Isaac Cruz. Whatever might be the case, fans are in for a thrilling clash as, stylistically, two of the most aggressive fighters will slug it out for a decisive end.
