When you stand across the ring with Mike Tyson, very few will favor you to win. If you are a crossover fighter, the chances dip further. Jake Paul is in a similar situation. But can he pull off an upset?

‘The Problem Child’ has grown weary of hearing similar predictions about his fight with ‘Iron Mike’ on July 20. He is making his case for why he might prove his doubters wrong, as he lists the reasons why he can do the unthinkable. What are those?

Who will win the world heavyweight title?

Tyson Fury

Oleksandr Usyk

Paul, 27, sat down with Lil Pump at his B/S with Jake Paul podcast and discussed his upcoming fight. Unlike others, Lil Pump put the YouTuber-turned-boxer on the same level as Tyson. Paul himself believes the fight is 50-50. Moreover, he is younger, faster, has quick reflexes, and can match whatever Tyson throws at him. The American also backs his faith in his chin to absorb the former heavyweight champion’s blows.

The 9-1 record holder said, “That’s what I am saying. I don’t get why people like. It’s very 50-50. But to the people that don’t think I’m going to win, it’s like I’m younger, faster, sharper and can hit at the same levels that he can. And be able to take his punches.”

However, Paul is not without doubts. But he believes he will have a wow moment. “I’m a little scared ’cause it is Mike Tyson, and I feel like when I look across the ring, I’m just going to have a wow moment. That I’m actually about to fight Mike Tyson,” Paul explained.

On the other hand, Paul is not the only man with jitters. Earlier, Tyson had also revealed how he reels from similar emotions.

‘Iron Mike’ scared to death but ready to confront it

Tyson, 57, appeared at FoxNews and admitted his fear of the upcoming fight. He felt a similar emotion when he fought Roy Jones Jr. in 2020 in an exhibition match. The Brooklyn native said, “Whatever I am afraid to do, I do it, and that’s how it is. I was afraid for the Roy fight. I was scared to fight him. I was a 100 pounds overweight. I was, however, old—54, 53, and I said, ‘let’s do it’.”

But confronting his fear is the personality of the former 2-time champion. It’s something that he will do in his upcoming fight with Paul too. He added, “Like right now, I am scared to death. But as the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become. Because it’s reality and in reality, I am invincible.”

Tyson has unwavering faith in himself and his abilities. The same goes with Paul, who has the power of youth on his side. It remains to be seen who comes on top in their contest.
