WBC Interim lightweight champion Joseph Diaz has earned his maiden shot at the 135 lbs world title. He will challenge Devin Haney for the belt on December 4 in Las Vegas. Standing before an undefeated prodigy like Haney, Diaz seems unfazed and believes he has what it takes to end ‘The Dream’. Besides, Diaz has also outlined his future plans, targeting more world titles at 135.

Well, he needs to overcome Devin Haney first, which will be an extremely demanding task. Only then can ‘JoJo’ aim at the other elites. While he is just days away from meeting Devin Haney in the ring, Diaz has called out WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, who will defend his belt against Isaac Cruz on December 5.
In a zoom-conference call, Diaz welcomed the idea of facing Gervonta Davis somewhere down the line.

32-1-1 as a professional, Diaz has held the world title in the super featherweight division. Hence, a win over Devin Haney will turn him into a two-weight titlist. That will quite be an achievement and will clearly open the doors for several more lucrative fights. While Gervonta Davis will appear a day later against ‘Pitbull’, the winners of both fights can expect a collision by spring 2022.

Joseph Diaz will have his work cut out against Devin Haney
At the age of 24, Devin Haney is being compared to Floyd Mayweather. This reflects the kind of skill Haney possesses. Hence, Diaz, who will have his work cut out, will have to push his limits to score a win. However, ‘JoJo’ has sufficient reasons to maintain his self-belief.

He has more professional experience than Devin Haney. Moreover, a world title fight is not a new thing for him. As he already has the Interim WBC belt, a rightful shot at the world title can drive him to bring in his best version.
In doing so, we can expect an intriguing fight that can see Devin Haney fall prey to Diaz’s dominance at any given point.
