Mike Tyson still keeps an eye on modern-age boxing and frequently reveals the desired matchups that he wants to see happen. However, he appears to be a fan of old age pugilism, precisely the one which he saw in his prime years.
The former heavyweight kingpin has hailed old school boxing over the new age, several times. After Anthony Joshua lost his heavyweight straps to Oleksandr Usyk in September 2021, Tyson contrasted the showdown to the ones from his time, belittling AJ and Usyk. In a chat with The Cub Shay Shay, ‘Iron’ Mike said, “Absolutely (Errol Spence Jr. vs Terence Crawford) and I want to see Errol Spence go up to 154 and fight Charlo brother two [Jermell Charlo]. These guys want to be mortal. I wanted to be immortal. I wanted the world to know my name to the end of the time.”

Mike Tyson can be a great matchmaker
The 55-year-old Tyson is a mastermind in the sport of boxing, who has also known what it takes to be a superstar and not just a champion. Meanwhile, Tyson has previously sparked several fight talks in the existing lightweight division. At the start of 2021, Ryan Garcia had called out Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis after he stopped Luke Campbell in a dominant showdown.
Mike Tyson fueled up that callout. He tuned up Garcia, his HotBoxin guest, in a face time with Gervonta Davis, which became a heated verbal war. After that, Tyson did a similar thing with Teofimo Lopez, his HotBoxin’ guest, and WBC lightweight champion, Devin Haney.
