Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia turned out to be the biggest fight of this year. The hype was quite high among the fans regarding this bout. Many pundits called it a 50-50 matchup. However, there was a concern for Garcia because of the rehydration clause request from Tank’s team. Since it was assumed to have been a disadvantage for ‘KingRy’, and it definitely had a role to play in the fight’s outcome. Garcia was knocked out by a liver punch in the seventh round of the twelve-round fight.

In a recent interview with ESNEWS, Gervonta Davis was asked about his upcoming fights and the opportunities he’s looking for. Amid the conversation, he took a moment to look back at the fight against Ryan Garcia. He then pointed out the things that made a difference for him in the mindset and also set him apart from Garcia, who was also kept on the same level as him.

Davis said, “Ain’t gonna lie, it’s just- honestly, it surprise me that, I don’t know, it was like different levels, you know what I mean. Punched that guy and I’m like I’m on a whole different level.” He stated how he could only feel the mismatch in their skills, as before the seventh-round outcome, he was also knocked down in the second round itself. From that point onwards, Davis walked through the canvas quite casually.

However, Garcia still believes that he can put down Davis in a rematch. He wants to run the biggest fight of the year back again, and who knows, it may even surpass the record-breaking $22.8 million gate in Las Vegas.

]Right after the fight, in the post-fight press conference, he talked about having the rematch as soon as possible, and just a couple of weeks ago, wished for the rematch at the end of the year.

He detailed his mindset while giving credit to his opponent for being the better fighter that night, but pointed out that he’d still continue to fight and would make a comeback on the canvas against Tank sometime in the coming future.

Recently, Garcia went on the X and wrote, “Fighting at the end of the year.” In the post, a fan commented about seeing Davis vs. Garcia rematch at the catchweight of 140. On this, Garcia neither confirmed nor denied the claim, and just replied with two words. He wrote, “I wish.
