The pound-for-pound king said, “We have this deal. They want the fight with Golovkin, so I say everybody wants that fight. Maybe a little late, maybe not. Everybody still wants that fight, so why not?”

Further on the question of personal bitterness between him and GGG, Canelo added, “Yeah. He talks a lot of s***. He said a lot of things, but we’re gonna see.”

The rivalry between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin

The bitterness between the greatest technicians of this generation, Canelo Alvarez and GGG, began back in the year 2017, where their first fight ended with a controversial draw. However, many thought GGG had an edge. After a lot of negotiations, the duo reached on to materialize their second showdown.

They again met a year later in 2018. In the action-packed rematch, Canelo secured a majority decision in his favor. This time, he stepped as an aggressor, and the game plan worked. However, the fight was close, resulting in one of the most memorable slugfests. Both events went as most spectacular showdowns down the line.

Since then, the greatest middleweight technician, who only lost to Canelo in his long boxing career, is eager to mark his legacy by thrashing the reigning Mexican star. He wants the epic trilogy to happen.

Infuriated by the decisions of the two fights, GGG believes he was the ultimate winner of both fights. He accused the undisputed super middleweight champion of cheating.

The 39-year-old legend once said, “I have the opinion that I won both fights. But some people are comfortable being delusional. Whether it soured me a bit? Yes. To see people could get away with this fraud, you think, ‘Really? This is how it works?'”.

After Canelo’s above statements, the probability of a trilogy has increased.
