Gervonta Davis and Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe have fired back at Oscar De La Hoya, who claimed that he was responsible for making the Ryan Garcia fight to come to fruition. Davis and Garcia are set to face off in a highly anticipated bout this April and settle their longstanding rivalry.

Both fighters have long been feuding with each other but were reluctant to face each other. However, after years of back and forth, the two will finally step inside the ring and face off. The credit for this fight happening can be given to many people. Despite this De La Hoya claimed that he was involved in the making of the fight. However, Davis and Leonard Ellerbe have refuted this claim and slammed ‘Golden Boy’.

Gervonta Davis and Leonard Ellerbe slam Oscar De La Hoya

In a recent interview with AKHi TV, Davis claimed that De La Hoya did not make this fight happen. “Oscar did not make the fight” he said. Ellerbe would then agree with Davis and also slammed Garcia’s promoter claiming he spread false information during the fight negotiations.

“Hell no, remember he was the one he was the one asking why they ain’t been in touch and we’d already been talking and I’ve been talking,” said Ellerbe.

Ellerbe thinks that De La Hoya had only inserted himself into the conversation after the fight had already been arranged. He also claimed that De la Hoya had no involvement in the promotion of the fight and had not contributed financially to its success. While it is unclear if De La Hoya was directly involved in the negotiations, Ellerbe’s claims need to be taken with a grain of salt given his rivalry with the former champion.

Leonard Ellerbe claims he sent the offer for the fight

Ellerbe also blasted De La Hoya during the press tour for the fight. He claimed that he was the one who sent the initial offer to De La Hoya and not the other way around despite the latter’s claims.
