WBC Interim lightweight champion, Ryan Garcia, appears vexed with his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya. A few weeks back, De La Hoya had curbed the talks of a fight between Garcia and Manny Pacquiao, putting it out of the immediate radar.
Meanwhile, it didn’t seem to have sat well with the young champion as he lashed out at his promoter. Being one of the top faces of the Golden Boy, Ryan Garcia didn’t hesitate to boast of his value. He openly clarified that he is not working under any promoter, which might be a sleek threat to exiting the company.
In interaction with Behind the Gloves, ‘KingRy’ opened up on how the fight with Manny Pacquiao fell off and revealed the real reason behind it. That said, he put most of the blame on Oscar De La Hoya.

“Everybody wants to push their own agendas, and they don’t want to listen to the fighter. I don’t care what anybody has to say, I go and do what I want. I don’t work for no promoter. They work for me. Straight up, you guys work for me. No promoter will ever make me do what I don’t wanna do,” said Garcia.

The WBC Interim lightweight champion further denounced his promoter and accused him of being disrespectful and unprofessional in handling the entire scenario.
Ryan Garcia continued, “I wanted to fight Gervonta Davis, and I wanted to fight either Manny Pacquiao. They offered me Manny Pacquiao, and I said, let’s go for it. To me, it’s disrespectful and not professional that my own promoter would say those comments.”

After teasing back-to-back fights against Gervonta Davis and Manny Pacquiao, Garcia has remained silent for some time now. He is yet to receive an official confirmation regarding his next fight. If neither Pacquiao nor Davis steps up, Ryan Garcia can lock horns against the WBC champion, Devin Haney.
Boasting of the WBC Interim title, Garcia is Haney’s mandatory at this stage. So, the 22-year-old has some lucrative opportunities ahead and he can rightfully make his pick.
