Alvarez had to push his limits and seemingly had a tough fight against a southpaw elite in Billy Joe Saunders. WBO champion (then) Saunders unleashed his best side and troubled Alvarez for a brief period. He even advanced himself on the judges’ boards, turning it into a hard fight for the Mexican superstar.
Meanwhile, Canelo Alvarez kept his composure and didn’t rush into exchanges. Despite suffering some serious adversary, he stuck to the game plan and successfully planted the bigger shots in round eight. However, the fight could have seen a different outcome, if it had gone to the judges’ scorecards.
