Shakur Stevenson is in a weird spot! Following his lackluster performance against Edwin De Los Santo in November last year, the Newark native is left with a lack of potential opponents. Even the offers he is getting don’t seem to be leading to anything. Ahead of William Zepeda’s March 16 fight, Oscar De La Hoya had made an offer to Shakur. However, Stevenson claimed on social media today that Oscar was after the clout and not a fight.

Turning to X (formerly Twitter), Oscar claimed, “Shakur, you said nobody wants to fight you. Well, check out William Zepeda on Saturday night on DAZN. He is begging me to fight you.” However, after Zepeda won his fight against Maxi Hughes, the head of Golden Boy Promotions seems to have left Stevenson on read!

Turning to his Instagram story, Stevenson leaked a screengrab of his text exchange with Oscar. The Newark native had texted Oscar, “I thought [you] wanted Zepeda to fight me. What’s the hold-up? Reach out to my promoter if [you] want the fight to happen next.” However, Oscar had not replied to Stevenson’s message, so Stevenson decided to take action.

Alongside the screenshot, Stevenson captioned the post, calling out Oscar. He wrote, “Zepeda wants the fight, and I want the fight… Oscar just clout-chased my name. He [doesn’t] want the fight.” Stevenson alleges Oscar used his name and fame to promote Zepeda’s fight against Hughes, suggesting he never wanted the fight to happen. Despite what seemed like a failed negotiation, Stevenson revealed details about his next fight on X today!

Shakur Stevenson promises a murder scene

Following his fight against De Los Santos, the whole boxing community turned on the 26-year-old boxer. The majority of the critics claimed the main reason behind the disappointing fight was Stevenson’s unwillingness to engage in the fight. In fact, Stevenson tried his best to stay out of Edwin’s range and won the fight via unanimous decision.

Whoever it is gotta take real punishment because of y’all.” Even still, his opponent in the fight remains anonymous.
