The ruinous liver shot that forced a kneel down on Ryan Garcia seems to be plucking out an onerous price. A sad, post-fight Garcia cut a sorry figure in front of the reporters, fielding uncomfortable questions. But where did Oscar De La Hoya vanish during the jamboree? As it happens most of the time, the latent bitterness soon latched onto an apparently innocuous issue. It became common knowledge as the belligerents washed their dirty linen in public. And as expected, opinions and voices from outside began jumping into the bandwagon. But Oscar De La Hoya would have none of it.

Ryan Garcia immediately did away with trainer Joe Goossen after the humiliating loss to Gervonta Davis. Per the available sources, he has joined hands with renowned technician Derrick Jones, who, among others, trains Anthony Joshua and Errol Spence Jr. So that leaves the question about the promoters. De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions has cared for ‘KingRy’ since 2017.

Now don’t you dare Mr. Hearn, Oscar De La Hoya warns

The bad blood between Ryan Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya has reached heights that some public figures in boxing couldn’t help but notice. So when they got the opportunity, they spoke out vehemently. Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn is not known for being reticent on any ongoing issue concerning the sport. So two days ago, iFL TV asked when he came across the news of Garcia and De La Hoya hurling accusations.

The Englishman replied, “Unbelievable. I’ve never seen anything like it. I mean, Oscar De La Hoya is just an accident waiting to happen–what is he doing?… Not one, but about five tweets: ‘own it, sort yourself out.’.. It’s like a comedy sketch. Ryan Garcia is Golden Boy’s biggest client by a long way…. It’s about to explode.” Understandably, Oscar De Le Hoya didn’t appreciate the unwarranted interference. So early morning today, he shot off a bit of cautionary advice to Hearn, “@EddieHearn, stay in your lane!! This is a warning!

To get to the root of the falling out, a reported suggestion from De La Hoya to take on an aging Manny Pacquiao rubbed the young Californian on the wrong side.

Incensed, Garcia vexed out on Twitter, “This isn’t happening!! I said what I wanted… It’s frustrating.. tired of this.” More so, on May 31, he tweeted about the fighters he would love to clash with, “3 people I want to fight next Rollies *they just ordered for him to fight someone else, Isaac Cruz *if he’s willing to go to 140 Teofimo López *depending on outcome.

Initially, De La Hoya tried to play down the matter and even suggested that the two sit down to discuss the business. However, Ryan Garcia’s harangues continued. Having had enough, De La Hoya probably decided not to take any prisoners. On June 2, he replied to Garcia, blaming the loss squarely on his head. Besides, he held his advisor responsible for giving the go-ahead to the rehydration clause.

Another tweet followed whether he criticized the young boxer’s claims that the Davis camp was more considerate to him during the entire affair. But, according to ‘The Golden Boy,’ Garcia walked into their neatly-laden trap by agreeing with the rehydration need.

It remains to be seen where this public loathing takes Garcia and De La Hoya. However, reports are near unanimous that whatever is said and done, it doesn’t bode well for two of the most well-known names in recent boxing.
