Suffering From Crippling Nerve Condition, Mike Tyson Reveals the Leading Cause of Deaths in Boxing After Branding American Football as the “Most Dangerous” Sport in the World

Mike Tyson has had his fair share of injuries during his boxing career, and at the same time, he’s also imposed injuries on his opponents. There have been many disastrous moments in the combat sport, where people have suffered from head injuries. Recently, on May 27th,  Ludumo Lamati also suffered a head injury in his undercard 12-round fight against Nick Ball. Despite being a sport fraught with challenges, the ‘sweet science’ is not the most dangerous one, at least according to Mike Tyson.

‘Iron Mike’ recently appeared on a show, Humans, hosted by the famous media personality, Joe Budden. He called ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ for the fifth episode of this series, and even named it, In the Ring With Iron Mike. In this conversation, Mike Tyson spoke about what appealed him to boxing.

In the episode, ‘Kid Dynamite’ went on about his boxing career, and shared how he felt post winning his belts and achieving his dreams to be at the top of the Heavyweight division. Then Joe Budden asked Mike Tyson why Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a more common issue in football than boxing.

Tyson looked at him and said, “Listen, I mean it’s telling you the truth, football is the most dangerous sport in the world. And if you don’t think so, you get close to one of those guys and hear them when they crash into each other. It’s some scary stuff, these guys don’t get up.

Then in continuation, he also stated the major reason behind the death of boxers is brain aneurysms, but he enunciated that this injury also could be due to the carelessness of the fighters. Tyson explained, “Normally they receive the aneurysm from another accident maybe a car accident or something and they go into the fight hurt. And normally that’s the cause of death.” This explains why there was a reduction from 15 rounds to just 12 rounds in boxing.

Tyson also revealed the dark truth about football history. He caught a crippling nerve condition causing intense pain in the leg and his lower back.

Why Tyson was forced into a wheelchair

Long ago, Mike Tyson was seen at the Miami International Airport in a wheelchair, which worried a lot of fans at that time. Well, months after that spotting, the Brooklyn born fighter came clean in front of the world about his health update and told everybody that he’s currently suffering from Sciatica, which causes him drastic pain sometimes.

He told Newsmax TV about the whole situation and stated, “I have sciatica every now and then, it flares up. When it flares up, I can’t even talk. Thank god, it’s the only health problem I have. I am splendid now.” Tyson also expressed gratitude towards his family and explained that every family member thanks the almighty for sparing him from something more serious.
