The fight currently occupying the minds of fans, followers, pundits, and critics falls on July 29. Two of the era’s most prominent names finally get the opportunity to settle a long-time argument. While Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. receive a shot at the undisputed title, it means more to the former. A victory will make him history’s first male, two-division undisputed champion, a never-before achieved feat. Understandably, Crawford focuses on the meeting at the T Mobile Arena. But does he have time to spare a thought or two on other prospects?
With these thoughts, Brian Custer caught up with Terence Crawford about his plans. The former started by asking how, compared to the past attempts, the deal for a fight finally met its logical end. The pound-for-pound best boxer in the world responded that it took him and Spence Jr. to sit down and sort out any impending hurdles.

One at a time, Terence Crawford concentrates on one fight at a time
Brian Custer asked whether it bothered him when followers started talking about him not being interested in the fight compared to Spence Jr. during the time negotiations failed last time. Crawford denied the allegations and asserted how much he wanted the bout more than anyone else. Custer wanted to know what this victory would mean to Crawford. The latter said it meant a lot and would finally shut the mouths of many naysayers who constantly questioned his credentials.
After checking what he and Spence Jr. spoke about during their face-off, Brian Custer checked whether the rematch clause would take place at 140 lbs. or 154 lbs. ‘Bud’ replied that it could go either way, but it didn’t bother him. His focus remains on winning in the first clash. ‘The Last Stand’ host immediately mentioned Jermell Charlo and wanted to know whether Crawford plans to meet him after the Spence fight.
The Nebraskan replied that he and even Errol Spence Jr. were looking forward to a fight with ‘The Hitman.’ However, he is neither worried nor thinking about Charlo since his attention remains on the July 29 fight. “…but like I said before, I’m not even worried about Jermell Charlo. I’m not even thinking about Jamel Charles. The only person on my mind is Errol Spence Jr.“

A ‘Bud’ rising through the divisions
Though thirty-five, the undefeated champion had, in the past, hinted at scaling up his division to 154 lbs. But ‘Bud’ remains clear on settling the Spence Jr. business before taking any such decision. During his one-and-a-half decade-old career, the Omaha, Nebraska-born Southpaw climbed three divisions. Starting with Lightweight, in 2014, he received his first world divisional title. Crawford added another feather to the cap a year later, becoming the WBO Light Welterweight title holder.
Adding more belts in the division, he became the undisputed champion, a first since Kostya Tszyu (2004) in 2017. But ten months later, he moved to the Welterweight division, winning the WBO title. Last year, ‘Bud’ Crawford defended his title for a successful sixth time.
