The Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor showdown was one of the most highly anticipated crossover fights in recent years. Fans were also excited to witness the king of boxing pitted against the UFC superstar. However, what intrigued fans more was the drama that revolved around the fight. In fact, Mayweather even mentioned that he did not train for the fight.

Mayweather faced McGregor at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada on August 26, 2017. The fight titled, ‘The Money Fight’, recorded the second highest pay-per-view buy rate in history. It was said that the fight had approximately 4.4 million PPV buys.
Moreover, Mayweather went on to win the bout by a 10th-round TKO.

‘TBE’ made a few intriguing statements about the fight during an interview in 2021. He said, “For Conor McGregor, I didn’t really train. “All I did was do push-ups and sit-ups. That’s all I did. Push-ups and sit-ups, box a few times, hit the bag a few times.”
However, he mentioned that he had taken the fight seriously. And that he wished to give his fans an entertaining fight night.
Fans were intrigued by Floyd Mayweather Jr’s statement
Fans were surprised by Floyd Mayweather’s statement. In fact, they even took to social media to share their thoughts about the same. Stressing on the fact that Mayweather is one of the hardest workers in the sport.
Ikram Rouf felt that not training for the fight was disrespectful to fans. She said, “That’s insulting to the fans who paid, luckily I watched it for free.”
Meanwhile, a few fans were sure that Mayweather trains all the time. Rodney Real said, “I’m a Floyd fan but come on he trains all the time, don’t have to get ready if you stay ready.”
Mike Lisnyansky said, “He always trains, even when he’s not fighting.”
Similarly, Tim Burns added, “I believe he’s saying he didn’t really have a ‘training camp’. He always stays in shape and in all he didn’t need a special camp.”

In the same vein, Liam Finchy Finch said, “He would’ve trained his ass off.”
On the other hand, Ant Miller, called out Mayweather, saying, “Liar. He did multiple videos of hitting the bag etc prior to the fight.”

However, a few fans stressed Mayweather’s competence as a boxer. Isiah Fields said, “Facts and to add to it he didn’t even use his own normal style in that fight. If he did he would destroyed Conner in the first 2 rounds.”
Similarly, Josh Mcdougall said, “We can all say anything. couldn’t end him though considering he says best in the world.”
