In his fourth professional bout against Vladimir Belujsky, Benjamin Whittaker won via eighth-round stoppage at Manchester. Despite showing amazing skills in the ring, the undefeated champ has attracted some condemnation on the internet. Once the bell rang, Whittaker was immediately resorting to his trademark antics. As he peppered Belujsky with solid shots, he occasionally disengaged to gesture to the crowd or bust out a dance move. While some attribute this to his peculiar style of fighting, most regard it as an insult to the sport of boxing.

Amidst the polarised set of opinions, veteran Boxer, Gary Logan has spoken about Ben’s fight and showboating. In a recent interview on the Ringside Toe2tToe podcast, Logan spoke vividly about Ben.

Replying to her, Logan said that this was the very aspect that separated elite athletes from normal people. Seemingly including Ben in the elite athletes category. Further, the boxing trainer added, You can’t do what he does in the ring. And even for us as boxers, it’s something that I wouldn’t personally do, but I get why it would stick somebody’s throat, but I get why some people get behind it.”

‘Shogun’ Logan also suggested that this might not be ‘The Surgeon’s” way of mocking the sport, but rather his own style he brings to his bouts. He said, If were training Ben, I would not tell him not to do it. Because that is what he does. I see him in the gym with Josh Kelly. Josh would be sparring, and Stevie Wonder comes over, and you can see him jigging on the rhythm of the music rather than concentrating on the spar.”
