It was in August this year that Jared Anderson dominated the news for his fifth-round knockout victory over Andriy Rudenko. Now, the Heavyweight fighter is back in the headlines, and for reasons nowhere related to the ring. In recent developments, cops arrested Anderson on Monday morning, in the Oregon, Ohio region.

The fighter based out of Houston rose to fame when he bagged the vacant WBO International Heavyweight title against Jerry Forrest in 2022. Subsequently, the fighter would emerge as a promising name in the heavyweight class, maintaining all his 16 fights without any scathes. While his followers awaited the news of his next bout, they were instead met with the tidings of his arrest.

‘Big Baby’ Anderson was taken into custody for driving under the influence and incorrectly handling firearms while knowing that he was under the influence. Cops reportedly smelt both alcohol and marijuana coming from his car. They later also found an opened bottle of tequila. Further inspection led the cops to also find a firearm in the locked glove box of his vehicle.

The charges of Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated (OVI) and Improper Handling of Firearms in a Motor Vehicle came after primary investigations. However, just after noon, the fighter was released on bond. He spent about 8 hours in jail. He is due back in court premises on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing. His promoter, Top Rank has refused to comment on this front for the time being.

The angriest Heavyweight, Anderson

Undefeated boxer Anderson’s recent successes have put him on the map, yet he hardly discusses his boxing career. Before his August fight, his last five victories came within two rounds. The streak pushed him as a fighter to look out for.  However, he remains reluctant to answer questions about his knockout power and future opponents. While spectators might root his prowess in his acumen, he attributes his quick wins to recklessness and anger in the early rounds.

He stated that his anger surfaces when he gets hit, and it persists. While he may not offer much in words, his flamboyant ring entrances tell a different story. From dressing as The Grinch to making a statement in a prison outfit, all with a purpose, especially to support his incarcerated brother. In April, Anderson faced his biggest challenge in George Arias.

Despite his growing notoriety, Anderson dismisses the likes of Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora with swift indifference. He also remains uninterested in discussing a potential world title shot. Unusual, right? However, it’s much beyond just title fights for him right now. His frustration has crept in as he emphasizes his focus on the present and his relentless work ethic. In the ring, Anderson’s voice may not reveal much emotion, but his anger seeks his success.
