Anthony Joshua suffered a lopsided defeat to Oleksandr Usyk last weekend. As Usyk had a reputation of being a tactical rather than a powerful fighter, this bout was already regarded as ‘AJ’s ultimate test.
In retrospect, ‘AJ‘ failed this test, as he couldn’t get into a groove. The result left many fans disheartened as they wanted to see him collide with Tyson Fury.
Recently, ‘The Gypsy King’ shared an honest notion on ‘AJ’s devastating loss. Speaking at a press conference, he said, “Did I watch the fight? Yes I did. Was I absolutely wounded that he won? Yes I was. I was hoping Joshua could win the fight, but he couldn’t – and that’s none of my business.”

“The only thing I’m bothered about is beating Deontay Wilder, and that’s the most dangerous heavyweight out there. In my opinion, Wilder beats Joshua, Usyk, all the rest of the division, comfortable – but he cannot beat me.” (h/t The Guardian)
For now, Fury wants to focus on no one else other than his rival, Deontay Wilder. They will fight on October 9 in what will be Tyson Fury’s first title defense.
Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury – Can it still happen?

On the other side, Anthony Joshua, who has reportedly invoked an immediate contractual rematch, must dethrone Oleksandr Usyk.

Hence, there are still three fights that need to go in their favor for any possibilities of a Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight for all the belts to be considered. However, it isn’t as straightforward as their opponents are some of the best names in the game and will do their best to ensure that they realize a boxing world championship.
Of course, the fight can happen in a non-title capacity, but the aura would diminish greatly.
