Tyson Fury is adamant about having a rematch clause with Oleksandr Usyk. While Usyk demanded Fury donate over one million dollars to the Ukrainian in terms of relief immediately after the fight on the 29th of April, Fury recently informed about Usyk’s team simultaneously looking for a rematch following the outcome of Fury vs Usyk. In a stern reply to the demands made by Usyk’s team, ‘The Gypsy King’ has suggested the absence of a rematch clause, leading the legendary trainer Teddy Atlas to believe that Fury is looking forward to permanently retiring from boxing following his fight with Usyk.

“Let’s put it this way, Fury’s made a lot more money than Usyk has made. He doesn’t need a rematch. It sounds to me like he’s ready to close up [the] shop, maybe. I don’t think that would be a crazy guess with what we know about Fury”, stated Teddy Atlas, given Fury’s approach toward Usyk. Recently, Tyson Fury, in his “greedy-belly deal,” made Usyk agree to fight on a 70/30 split. Although Usyk agreed, his team later came up with different propositions given the fight falls apart on the 29th of April.

Tyson Fury rejects the proposition of a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk

In public, Tyson Fury has talked about the various demands made by Usyk’s team. Among other propositions, they have demanded a rematch clause ahead of the bout in April. However, the WBC Heavyweight champion forbade Usyk to bother about the possibility of a second fight after April. “How about there is no f*cking rematch clause for both [either] of us? Let’s not worry about the future and how many dollars you can make after you’ve been defeated. Worry about the fight [on] April 29th,” said Fury who also blasted Usyk’s manager after the 70/30 split.

No rematch clause, the winner takes the glory. The loser goes home with his hand. how about that?” concluded ‘The Gypsy King’. These assertions only reflect the fact that although Usyk is a star cherished by many, Tyson Fury is still the topper of the list and certainly the one with the strings. Undoubtedly, Usyk will have to prioritize a single date, that is, the 29th of April.
