Tyson Fury’s Promoter Reveals the True Intention of His Boxing Rival Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury‘s promoter, Frank Warren talks about the real reason why Oleksandr Usyk didn’t want to make the UK fight happen. Fury vs. Usyk fell apart in the negotiation stage at the beginning of the year, the bout that was scheduled for April 30th could never happen. This heavily caused consternation among the boxing fans and even the WBA expressed their disappointment as the fight collapsed because the fighter couldn’t find a middle ground.
This bout, apart from being the big money opportunity, was also a great deal for boxing as a sport. Mainly because it’s been more than two decades since the Heavyweight division had an undisputed champion. No Heavyweight boxer has ever achieved that benchmark after Lennox Lewis in 1999-2000. Well the fact that there was a chance for the fighters to unify all the four belts of the division, after that bout, is enough to showcase the importance of that fight. Still, all hope is not lost as the boxers are in talks of fighting in December in Saudi Arabia. But due to recent revelations, the prospects of that happening is also seeming to be a bit lopsided.

When the news of Fury vs. Usyk loomed over the internet, Fury made a 70/30 split offer to Usyk, which was immediately accepted by Usyk. And when the fight didn’t happen, many fans tagged Fury as the ‘greedy belly’ and some even believed that Fury was ducking ‘The Cat’.
Currently, negotiations are taking place to make the Heavyweight Mega Event happen. The plan is to accommodate Fury vs. Usyk in one night, with Deontay Wilder vs. Anthony Joshua. This will potentially be the biggest night of the boxing world if anything like that could be made possible. But the major problem has been revealed by Warren in his recent interview with talkSPORT Boxing.

But simultaneously, he also made it clear that he doesn’t blame Usyk, but also questions Fury’s critics about when ‘Gypsy King’ does the same thing, he’s called out for his ‘greed’. He stated that it’s evident that Usyk went to sign a promotional deal in Saudi Arabia because they pay a lot of money.

Since he wasn’t getting paid in as big amounts in the April 30th fight, he decided to turn it over, and that’s why, as Warren said, “he didn’t want to fight Tyson Fury in the UK.” It’s still not official whether the Heavyweight Mega Event would be taking place later this year or not. But fans are eagerly waiting for any kind of news regarding this four-belts unification bout. What are your thoughts about Fury vs. Usyk happening? Let us know in the comments section.
