On April 30th, 2022, Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor became the first women in history to headline a boxing match inside Madison Square Garden, New York. Both the women fought their hearts out, relentlessly exchanging blows till the bell in the 10th and final round. The bout was in the 134lbs lightweight division and it ended in the 36-year-old Katie Taylor’s favor. After her loss against Taylor, Serrano was all set to have yet another fight in Madison Square Garden.

However, because of unforeseen circumstances, Serrano’s fight on her promoter Jake Paul‘s undercard on August 6th, at the last moment, got canceled. Now, almost three months after their first meeting, Jake Paul reportedly pursues Katie Taylor for a rematch with Amanda Serrano in the 126lbs weight division.

Surprisingly, Paul said, “We have $2 million for Katie Taylor to come down to 126. Katie Taylor, why don’t you come down to 126 and go against Amanda Serrano in that weight? She came up to fight you. Come down to 126, see if you’re really the pound-for-pound best.”

Katie Taylor’s unflinched response to Jake Paul’s “nonsense” demand

Amanda Serrano’s regular weight class is the featherweight division in boxing. As a result, most of her victories have arrived under 128lbs. In a recent assessment, it was further seen that out of the eight fights she had had between 126-126 1/2lbs; Serrano won all. Therefore, is Jake Paul keeping Serrano’s comfort and advantage at 126lbs in mind, urging Katie Taylor to come down to the said weight class for a second fight?

As if Paul had uttered something completely ludicrous that Taylor responded by saying, “I never heard such nonsense in all my life. I’ve never heard someone say something as stupid as that.”

“I’m pretty sure he knows that I’m not going to get down to 126 at the end of the day. It is real nonsense to be quite honest. I don’t know if he is playing games or it’s naivety from him, but obviously, any rematch is going to be at 135 pounds. I’m the champion and if they want to run the fight back that’s the weight division it’s going to be at,” Taylor made it clear by stating.

Although Taylor made it clear, fans are yet to hear Paul’s response to the Irish.
