With four heavyweight titles on the line, on August 20 inside the Jeddah Superdome, Jeddah, Oleksandr Usyk beat Anthony Joshua for the second time. The boxing community anxiously looked forward to this match as they greatly suspected a Tyson Fury comeback following the end of the second Joshua vs. Usyk. Tyson Fury, who announced his retirement in April this year, was strongly believed by a particular group to make his comeback against the winner of Usyk vs. Joshua II.

Well, now that the ‘AJ’ and Usyk event is done, can we expect a Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight? Recently, ESNEWS ran into the former American Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. They asked Wilder what he thought about the Usyk vs. Fury fight? The following is what The Bronze Bomber said:

“I think Fury would be too big for him. You know he just likes to use his size all the time no matter what, and a lot of other things. I think Usyk’s too small, that would be my opinion”

Oleksandr Usyk is 6′ 3″ and Tyson Fury is 6′ 9″. While Usyk has a reach of 78″ / 198cm, Fury has the reach of 85″ / 216cm – a significant difference between the two! Keeping Fury’s height and reach advantages in mind, Wilder says Fury is too big for the Ukrainian Usyk. However, according to The Bronze Bomber, size is not the only obstacle on Usyk’s path when it comes to battling The Gypsy King.

And so, Wilder adds, “And I think Usyk has a stamina problem as well, you know. You’ve seen with Joshua, enough stamina and it’d probably be a different result. But, that’s my opinion about it.”

In his career, Fury went the distance six times and that too against the likes of Wladimir Klitschko, Deontay Wilder (2018-12-01), Otto Wallin, and so on. As opposed to Fury, with only 20 fights, Usyk has already gone the distance seven times in pro boxing. Well, given that, there is no doubt that Usyk is a twelve-round fighter. But still, Wilder believes the Ukranian to possess a stamina problem bereft of which he would have had different results against Joshua.
