Veteran Trainer Says Oscar De La Hoya Beat Floyd Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather had one of the toughest nights of his career when he came across the original ‘Golden Boy’ Oscar De La Hoya in a 12-round war at the MGM Grand Arena back in 2007. Mayweather could see his hands get raised via split decision. However, he didn’t seem invincible in the ring, not by far.
De La Hoya did legitimate damage to arguably the greatest boxer of the era and offered his looming power to the foray. Mayweather struggled to defend all of that assault. That said, veteran trainer Eduardo Garcia has put Mayweather into the losing column, as he believes De La Hoya had won that night.

Elie Seckbach of ES News recently visited Robert Garcia’s gym and talked about several things. Meanwhile, Robert Garcia’s father, Big G, made a bombarding claim about the high-voltage Mayweather vs. De La Hoya clash.
In response, Robert Garcia said, “My dad [Eduardo Garcia] thinks Oscar beat him.”
Three judges scored the fight and Tom Kaczmarek had Oscar De La Hoya winning on the card. He scored the fight 115-113 in favor of ‘The Golden Boy.’ Meanwhile, Chuck Giampa (116-112) and Jerry Roth (115-113) backed Floyd Mayweather. The numbers speak for themselves and cite how close of a slugfest it was.
Oscar De La Hoya started the clash strongly and looked flawless throughout the initial rounds. While Mayweather found his way mind-way, De La Hoya began dominating lately. Following the scrap, the entire MGM Grand Arena applauded both men. Mayweather retained his unbeaten record, but De La Hoya left blueprints on how to crack ‘TBE’.

Is Oscar De La Hoya still waiting for his rematch against Floyd Mayweather?
Floyd Mayweather retired ten years later, in 2017, after facing Oscar De La Hoya. However, De La Hoya hung up his gloves in 2008, one year after his loss to Mayweather. Manny Pacquiao put the final stop on De La Hoya’s boxing career, and the ‘Golden Boy’ became a boxing promoter from then. Well, after several years, De La Hoya now wants to have another shot at Floyd Mayweather.
Oscar De La Hoya hinted at making a return and called out Floyd Mayweather to accept his in-ring challenge. But ‘TBE’ is yet to respond to it, which leaves little lifeline left for the high voltage rematch.
