For a long time now, too many belts in boxing have turned out to be a massive concern for the sport. Many fans, fighters, and experts of the sport have always remained assertive about the confusion pertaining to umpteen belts across all the weight classes. That said, the boxing governing bodies, WBC, WBO, IBF, and WBA are in constant touch to remove this confusion and concerns once and for all.

For every weight class, there’s a different champion for every governing body. This eventually takes away the charm of the roster, as fans aren’t able to determine who is the actual champ of the weight class. Hence, the governing bodies recently chalked out a plan for mandatory bouts.

WBC released a statement wherein they said, ”The WBC has been working with the WBO, IBF, and WBA. We are trying to address important topics together.”

“Such a contest will be considered a final elimination. The ultimate goal is to create a common mandatory contender to the unified champion.”
