Floyd Mayweather Sr. played a pivotal role in making Floyd Mayweather Jr. one of the greatest boxers of all time. The former five-division world champion scaled Mount Olympus in the sport of boxing. And even though he was the one exchanging jabs inside the boxing ring, many people stood by him and trained him to ensure that he won. In a recent public appearance, Mayweather Jr. got emotional talking about his father. And drew a comparison between his father and his upcoming opponent, John Gotti III‘s father.

In a recent press conference for his exhibition fight with John Gotti III, the 46-year-old talked about his father’s role in his life. And further talked about the responsibilities of his mother and how it differentiates from the role of the father. He further gave an example of himself and his kids to paint a better picture for the audience.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. gets emotional while drawing similarities

While attending the press conference, Mayweather Jr. said, “My dad is a hell of a trainer. My dad is still behind me, and a lot of time, we gotta take our hats off to our fathers. That’s what we don’t do. We don’t take our hats off to the fathers.” The champ further stated a personal example to explain what he was saying.

“One thing we always say is, We all got a job to do, and the mother was the nurturer. It’s like for my children, mother’s the nurturer, and I am the provider,” said ‘Money’ Mayweather while talking about his children and his role as a father. Mayweather Jr. further compared the relationship between him and his father to that of John Gotti III and his father.

Mayweather Jr. and John Gotti III will exchange jabs inside the boxing ring on the night of June 11. This will be the champ’s first exhibition fight since he last fought Aaron Chalmers in the UK. The former champ is still believed to be one of the best and unbeatable by one Hollywood actor.
