“You Can Be F***ed Up, Mike”: Terence Crawford and Mike Tyson Find a Bone of Contention

Ahead of his undisputed welterweight bout with Errol Spence Jr., Terence Crawford appeared on Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson. In this episode, Crawford and Tyson discussed the fighter’s mentality. According to them, “You have got to be a crazy motherf***er to box“. While the preceding statement was in accordance with both Tyson and Crawford, the duo discovered a bone of contention when speaking about their respective approaches to boxing as a career.

Undoubtedly, boxing is one of the toughest sports. To cite Terence Crawford, “Who the f***k loves to get hit upside the f***ing head all day?” According to Crawford, boxing is all about courage, and it takes so much to put your life at stake. “A lot of fighters climbed through the ropes, but they didn’t climb out,” Crawford said. By the by, co-host DJ Whoo Kid referred to the time Mike Tyson declared that he would “rather just have an amazing career” at the expense of “brain damage“.

Mike Tyson confirmed that he would rather have brain damage from an amazing career than merely survive after a forgettable journey in the sport. At this, Tyson, who later provided Errol Spence Jr. with a strategy against ‘Bud’ Crawford, admitted, “I agree. That’s just who I am. I am who I am“. Following this assertion by Mike, three of them laughed.
