YouTube sensation Jake Paul recently overcame the biggest challenge of his young boxing career after beating Anderson Silva via unanimous decision. Although the fights Paul puts on are seen as more of a spectacle rather than an actual boxing match, this formula was working for him as his fight against Tyron Woodley did great numbers on PPV.

However, it looks like this formula might not last as it was recently revealed that the Silva fight will pull in fewer buys than expected. This led former UFC middleweight title challenger Chael Sonnen to ask some hard-hitting questions. The American Gangster made a video on his YouTube channel addressing this issue and claimed that the Showtime president might not be so considerate of Paul.

Sonnen was curious to know the split between Paul’s promotion and Showtime and their exact involvement. “Jake said I lost millions of dollars and I would love to know the business structure of that relationship. How much is Most Valuable Promotions doing and what exactly is the involvement of Showtime? Is that a time by just by example?” he said.

Chael Sonnen claims Jake Paul might not get another fight after Anderson Silva

Moreover, he added that Showtime’s president Stephen Espinoza would not feel great about giving Paul another opportunity following his last two lack-luster fights. He claimed that he has not seen Showtime give a chance to anybody who had two unsuccessful fights. “Cause Showtime if you do two in a row, Espinoza is going to give that a real big look. If you do one dud you’re gonna have a hard time, he may make an exception. You have a hard time getting the second one, but if you have two in a row. I can’t think of an example where somebody got a third shot, and that isn’t being flexed here.” He added.

Furthermore, Paul recently claimed that he didn’t expect the fight to sell over 300,000 buys. “I think it will probably go around 2-300,000, which is kind of upsetting,” Paul said on the Impaulsive podcast.

Moreover, given the recent debacles with his bouts against Tommy Furey and Hasim Rahman Jr, Paul has managed to somehow get a fight in 2022. However, the trend for YouTube boxing seems to be moving downward as the intrigue of these fights is slowing down.
