Terence Crawford Gets Real About Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou

On October 28th, former UFC champion Francis Ngannou will face the reigning WBC Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury inside a boxing ring. Recently, on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Ngannou explained his vision of the fight with Fury. As per Ngannou’s understanding, ‘The Gypsy King’ would take advantage of his reach and try to drag the bout into a decision. Hence, the Cameroonian fighter feels it is crucial to close in on the distance and refuse Fury to get comfortable inside the ring.
Although a number of people feel that Ngannou might land a shot on Fury by “chance“, the 36-year-old believes he is preparing himself to win. As he said, “I would have to break his distance because he’s pretty good on the distance. Have to expose myself. That is a tough one and I want to win.” While Ngannou hopes to win, Terence Crawford feels the exact opposite.

Francis Ngannou wishes to see how Tyson Fury reacts when he has applied pressure on ‘The Gypsy King’. And contrary to what the people feel, confident Ngannou declared, “I don’t want to give him space to make him feel comfortable. Let’s see how he reacts when you apply pressure.” At the recent press conference of Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford, journalist The Schmo asked Crawford about the chance Ngannou had against Fury. “We’re gonna have a boxing champion vs. an MMA champion – Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou. What shot do you give to Francis Ngannou on getting the upset and beating Tyson Fury?” The Schmo inquired.

Without hesitation, the current WBO Welterweight champion announced Francis Ngannou had a “zero” chance against Tyson Fury. While Crawford’s statement may hurt the sentiments of MMA fans and supporters of Francis Ngannou, Crawford answered with all sincerity. Indeed, as Ngannou himself said, reach is going to play a critical role in the bout since Tyson Fury is 6’9 and Francis Ngannou is just 6’3. In addition, while Ngannou is nearly 256 lbs, Tyson Fury was almost 270 lbs in his last fight.
