Boxing News: Tim Tszyu’s Manager Provides Update on Potential Terence Crawford Fight

Tim Tszyu remains on the precipice of his career’s toughest challenge against Sebastian Fundora. However, while he wraps up that fight on the 30th of March, another big opportunity for him has turned up. His manager has now revealed that talks for his fight against Terence Crawford are in full swing.
‘Bud’ Crawford has seen no action in the ring since he dropped Errol Spence Jr. in July last year. Though Bud undoubtedly hoped to maintain momentum after becoming a two-time undisputed champion, his plans were halted when Errol Spence Jr. exercised his rematch clause. However, ultimately the opportunity lapsed when Spence Jr. decided to undergo an eye surgery. Undeterred, Bud has reportedly set his sights on the winner of the upcoming Tszyu vs. Fundora fight, aiming to capture the super welterweight titles now.

Last week, reports emerged that the Nebraska native had exercised his rights as a WBO welterweight champion and petitioned to have himself be named as the mandatory challenger for the WBO super welterweight belt, currently held by ‘The Soul Taker.’ However, to get his challenge, he’d have to wait till this Saturday, when Tim Tszyu will fight Fundora to defend the title, as well as claim the vacant WBC belt.

Team Tszyu oozes confidence
Doubling down on the potential fight, his manager also spoke to Jai McAllister. Confident of his fighter winning over Bud, Jennings noted, “The boxing world will say Crawford is too good for Tszyu. Everyone’s said that up to date… We believe and Terence Crawford and his team believe that Tim Tszyu is the best 154 in the world. There’s credit and stock behind that. That’s not talk and making up numbers.”
He added, “So, we believe that given the opportunity for Tim to fight Crawford, we’ll win the fight. There’s no doubt in this camp and this team that we’re not here for any other reason than to take everything.”
