In the wake of Errol Spence Jr.‘s brutal loss to Terence Crawford, Stephen A. Smith, on ESPN’s First Take, made a bold statement regarding Spence Jr.’s future in the sport. Considering the car accidents ‘The Truth’ has been through and the “bonafide, epic a**whooping” he received from ‘Bud,’ Smith thought it was ideal that the former unified welterweight champion hung up his gloves.
However, as per the latest updates, Spence Jr. exercised his contractual right and demanded a rematch with ‘Bud’ at 154 pounds. In this connection, Fight Hype recently got in touch with a former heavyweight champion who claims to love ‘The Truth’ to death.

Ahead of the bout with Crawford at 147, Spence Jr. had three near-death accidents. As a result, he even later revealed that he had PTSD. At this, several people, although they appreciated Spence Jr.’s heart and warrior mentality, thought it was best he did not rematch ‘Bud’.
Former heavyweight champion, Shannon Briggs is one of them. Therefore, despite praising the prospect of Spence Jr. vs. Crawford II, Briggs indirectly hoped ‘The Truth’ would consider retirement.

“I’m a little worried about Errol. I love him to death and I just don’t want him to get hurt,” Briggs declared. In addition, he said, “You know he’s had a few car accidents. I just want him to make enough money and I mean he’s made enough money just [want him] to enjoy life and have fun.”
In this context, on being asked if he expected a different outcome in the rematch, Briggs praised Terence Crawford.

Although Shannon Briggs stated he could not predict the result of the rematch, he lauded Crawford’s abilities. According to him, while ‘Bud’ vs. ‘The Truth’ II might be more competitive, to call a spade a spade, one must admit that Crawford is “unreal.”
