Amid 2-Game Losing Streak, Giannis Antetokounmpo Calls for His Brother Kostas’ Help After Witnessing Breathtaking Euro League Play

Giannis Antetokounmpo comes from a family of athletes. His dad was a former football player in Nigeria and his mother was a professional high jumper. Moreover, along with Giannis, his older brother Thanasis plays for the Milwaukee Bucks. In addition, their younger brother Kostas plays for the Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens, a pro basketball team that plays in the Greek Basket League as well as the Euro League.
Like his brother Giannis, Kostas is an excellent rim protector and boasts a strong physicality. As the Euro League regular season is underway, he is playing great basketball with the Panathinaikos, and no one is prouder of him than his brother Giannis. Giannis’ story shows a clip of the Panathinaikos vs Anadolu Efes game, where Kostas runs toward the rim without hesitation and blocks a shot from Anadolu’s center Tibor Pleiss. Impressed by the insane block and proud of his younger brother, Giannis shared the clip with the caption “Come over hereee,” followed by a series of emojis, portraying the emotions of a proud brother. While praising his brother, Giannis took the opportunity to tag Kostas and plead with him to come and help out the Bucks as well, who are currently on a two-game losing streak.

In the game, Kostas and Co. took home an 83-76 win over their opponents. 26-year-old Kostas, who plays the center, clocked in a little over 10 minutes, where he contributed six points and four rebounds. This season, he has averaged 3.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, 0.1 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.5 blocks. It is interesting to note that Kostas was drafted into the NBA not long ago.

From the NBA to the Euro League
Kostas was picked by the Sixers in the 2018 NBA Draft but was very soon traded to the Mavs, where he signed a two-way contract in July. Over the contract’s duration, Kostas would alternate between the Mavs and the Texas Legends, their NBA G-League affiliate. In July 2019, Dallas dropped Kostas, who was then taken in by the Lakers a few days later.

With the Lakers, he played five games in the 2019-20 season and 15 in the 2020-21 season. In 2020, Kostas won a Championship with the Lakers. In October 2022, he signed with the Bulls but was shortly waived without playing a single game with them. A few months later, in December, Kostas signed with the Fenerbahçe Beko, a team playing for the Turkish Basketball Super League. He finally landed with the Panathinaikos in June 2023.
