At just 22 years old, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has turned into a superstar in the NBA. He got his first All-Star nod last season after averaging over 24 points in only his third NBA season. Realizing his superstar potential, the Minnesota Timberwolves gave Edwards a 5-year $260 million supermax extension, cementing his role as the leader of the Timberwolves franchise. At such a young age, Edwards is set to make $134,000,000 more than former NBA Champion Kyrie Irving, who recently re-signed with the Dallas Mavericks.
Here is how the 22-year-old superstar has already surpassed veteran Kyrie Irving in contract value and is looking to follow in Uncle Drew’s footsteps with his shoe deal.

Since Anthony Edwards was picked Number 1 in the 2020 NBA draft, his stock price has increased exponentially. Edwards started to dominate his opponents in the league from the day he stepped foot on an NBA court. He even led his team to the playoffs in the last two seasons and proved he can take the Minnesota Timberwolves to new heights. Edwards bagged a massive $260 million contract this summer, making him one of the highest-paid athletes in the NBA.
Edwards is even making more money than highly accomplished NBA superstar Kyrie Irving. Uncle Drew re-signed with the Dallas Mavericks this off-season on a 3-year $126 million contract. Kyrie is still in his prime, but his off-court antics have affected his value in the trade market. The former Champion will share the court with Slovenian sensation Luka Doncic, and the superstar duo will look to make a deep run in the playoffs. The $134,000,000 difference between their contracts is not the only thing separating Anthony Edwards and Kyrie Irving’s net worth. The Timberwolves star is now stepping into the sneaker game, which Kyrie has already pioneered.

Anthony Edwards is following Kyrie Irving’s footsteps
After many years of dominating the sneaker game with his signature shoe line, Kyrie Irving had a fallout with the multi-billion-dollar sports apparel brand Nike. Nike parted ways with Kyrie last December following a controversy surrounding the superstar. Kyrie signed a new 5-year shoe deal with Chinese brand ANTA this summer and will release their first signature shoe together very soon.

But Anthony Edwards is not far behind Uncle Drew. He is following in the footsteps of Kyrie and will soon launch his first signature basketball shoe AE1, in partnership with Adidas. The sports brand recently unveiled the new logo of the Superstar’s signature shoe. Ant signed with Adidas in 2020 and is eagerly waiting for his first signature shoe to come out. Looking at Ant’s superstar potential, his partnership with Adidas even has the potential to surpass the popularity of Kyrie Irving’s signature shoes. Do you think Anthony Edwards will beat Kyrie Irving in the sneaker game like he did in his NBA contract?
